Mostly pics this blog otherwise I'll have to tell you that I was crying even before the bride entered the Abbazia. Can't explain how good the day was, and can't resist going over events, so if you don't know the protagonists, my advice , look at the pics, and dont read on .... tap to expand and scroll:
Incredible generosity from the hosts, my photos fail to capture the colossal grandeur of this occasion! Check out the longest dining table (evvverrr!) for a small hint of just how perfect this venue is!
The wedding ceremony was where I started blubbing, much like yawning it's infectious, I glanced over to see several people sharing a Kleenex and I was off.
In the ceremony itself there were certainly moments of incredible sincerity, and just a hint of jeopardy. we should be very grateful for:
The splendour of the setting, the tear jerking amount of love in the room, Rhys actually having the rings and not splitting his trousers, the bride not catching alight on the floor candles when reaching across to kiss her mum, BJ and Ste not having a fight in church, Jack (the hardest man in the north) the Groom remembering his lines, no one treading on the brides train, KDog not falling asleep, A-town falling asleep, and Bosh's cravat, a complete lack of reference to the brides school reports, the beautiful bridesmaids and Moss Bros. We loved it, best wishes for the happiest of futures together guys xxx
The reception was incredible, brides dads speech was truely heart felt. the groom who I've known since he was born, and in absolute honesty was a bit slow learning to talk at all, has made up for lost time (presumably thanks in no small part to early intervention by his speech therapist) and delivered possibly the most consummately professional speech I have heard , since his dads speech at his own wedding 33 years ago! (Really - Kent was so proud he stayed awake to eventually be awarded the last man standing trophy) - the pressure on Rhys "it's just a matter of time till I give you ladies what you want and split my trousers" Davies was building, and he too excelled bringing the Windsor end of the room to eruption by dropping into their very own hybrid language for part of the speech, he was unstoppable! fabulous effort, especially when we had felt the day before that Freddie's speech was as good as it was going to get!!
the party after was simply a vehicle for Patty - aka bionic granny - to bust some fine moves and demonstrate to us all that age is just a number! While the rest of us "got mortal"!
I'll leave it there, but want to add my own best wishes to J&H and remind them just how lucky they are to have such great friends family and parents, and each other, and of course Louise and me if ever you need us.
